Tajhae Barr- Women’s History Month

It’s #WomensHistoryMonth! So this month I’m recognizing 31 women who are making history that you need to know about.

Day 10/31

Today’s historic woman is Tajhae Barr

In 2014, Tajhae created a blog originally called "The Woman Unspoken", in which she expressed her truths through free writing and poetry. On that blog feautured "Unspoken Chronicles: The Sidechick" a series in which she reflected on her experiences with "situation-ships". Her blog also featured encouragement with self- care and in relationships. These truths led her to receiving the "Women In Power" Award in the Spring of 2014, in Flint, MI. In Fall 2015, she also was called to speak to young girls ages 9 -15 on embracing their natural beauty. That same year, she initiated "The Women Unspokn" a volunteer organization geared toward making positive impacts, also in the Flint, MI community. Simultaneously, while coping with depression and anxiety, she began to acquire knowledge of herself.  Deciding to take a break from writing to begin her journey of self-discovery.

She realized that she was not merely just a woman, but a wombman. A being, manifested as a hue-man with a divine link to creation itself.

Being multi-faceted, Tajhae is a self-published author, a mentor for Alternatives for Girls in Detroit, MI, a self-care holistic health practitioner, and a practitoner of the African Based Traditional Religions. President Barack Obama also recognized her advocacy for women empowerment and invited her to The White House for Women's History Month in March 2016.At 20 something and acquiring knowledge of herself every day, she recognizes her mission and purpose; to empower women, specifically, women of color, to seek their truth and live it, Unspokenly. In her upcoming book book titled, Unspoken Chronicles of a Sidechick: A Poetic Memoir, Tajhae shares her journey to her womb. Inspired by her ancestors and the teachings of Dr. Barashango and Dr. Sebi, as well as her personal experiences with sexual assault, mental illness, being fatherless, abusive relationships, alcoholism, love, lust,  suicide and death.

Go follow her and remember to Own Your Truth
